Thomas's version featured the sound of the electric sitar, and reached number five in 1969 on the Billboard Hot 100. It has been recorded by many other artists, including Blue Swede, whose version reached number one in the United States in 1974.

The price of produce on this page does not necessarily mean that is the going price on the entire market. We stop randomly at different vendors and ask the price at that given time. The price in the early hours could be higher, and in the evening hours when they are leaving it could be lower. The prices shown here should however give you an idea of what you could expect to pay. The price you will pay for produce at the Plant City Farm & Flea Mkt. will almost always be lower than the price that is posted at any major produces exchange terminal.

Meet one of our long time vendors, Dan Williams aka "The Tool Man" Dan has been a vendor at the Plant City Flea Market for more than 30 years.
SPECIALIZING IN THE SALE OF AMERICAN MADE TOOLS AND HARDWARE
Though raised in New Jersey, Dan Williams never lost his fondness for his Alabama roots and is quick to point out that the love of his life, Irene, is a “Damn Yankee” that he married a half century ago on Pearl Harbor Day. “That helps me never forget our anniversary,” said Williams.
He is also quick to remind anyone who will listen that he had to have his mother’s signature to marry Irene. “Back then, the man had to be 21 to get married and I was only 20 so I had to get my mother to sign for me to make my marriage to Irene legal.” Dan also says this meant Irene “had to rob the cradle” to get him since he wasn’t of legal age.
Dan spent 40 years in building construction many in New Jersey, he retired to the Balm area of Hillsborough County in 1998 after wintering in Florida for many years. “You can’t just retire, you’ve got to keep doing something,” said Williams with full agreement from Irene. They have two sons.
That something for the Williams was converting their hoarding tendencies, which Dan says are alive and well in all flea market vendors and many of their customers, into a weekly presence at the Plant City Flea and Farmers Market. He and Irene sell “mostly American made tools and hardware from electrical and hand tools to brads, screws, nails and whole lot more,” said Williams. While their tools are mostly sold individually, many of their other items are sold by the pound at prices that would certainly give the big box retailers “heart burn. ”The Williams plan to continue their presence at the Plant City Market “just as long as Ferris Waller the owner will behave.”
