If you have a photo that you would like to share on this newsletter, send it to pcfmarket@gmail.com The photos below were in my mother's home. The one on the left is from a bulletin of the First Baptist Church of Plant City, dated Jan. 22, 1956. The second photo is of an old fellow from Colorado who was traveling the country in his covered wagon. He spent the night and camped on my grandmothers land that is just south of the Flea Market on S.R. 39 (Circa 1949/1952) On his wagon is a sign "Here Comes Orville"

![]() In 1926, when a Los Angeles restaurant owner with the all-American name of Bob Cobb was looking for a way to use up leftovers, he threw together some avocado, celery, tomato, chives, watercress, hard-boiled eggs, chicken, bacon, and Roquefort cheese, and named it after himself: Cobb salad.

Crooner Engelbert Humperdinck was born Arnold George Dorsey. He borrowed his stage name from a German composer who died in 1921. Weirdly, Arnold Dorsey sounds much cooler.

The first U.S. experimental 3D-TV broadcast showed an episode of Space Patrol on Los Angeles ABC affiliate KECA-TV. Space Patrol was a science fiction series that was originally aimed at the teen age and under audiences of the early 1950s via television, radio, and comic books. However, it soon developed a sizable adult audience such that by 1954, the program consistently ranked in the top 10 shows broadcast on a Saturday. Just think, 3D TV has only become popular recently 60 years later. <>

![]() This was another sad day for America
11 Years Ago On April 29, 2004 Oldsmobile builds its last car ending 107 years of production. It was the end of the road for the oldest automotive brand name in the United States. Oldsmobile, was the brand that pioneered chrome-plated trim and gave drivers the Eighty Eight series, the front-wheel-drive Toronado and the Cutlass. Oldsmobiles were first manufactured by the Olds Motor Vehicle Company in Lansing, Michigan, a company founded by Ransom E. Olds in 1897. In 1901, Olds introduced the Curved Dash Olds which sold 425 cars, becoming the first high-volume car of the day. Olds became, for a few years, the top selling car company in the United States. Ransom Olds left the company in financial difficulties and formed REO Motor Car Company. The last Curved Dash Olds was made in 1907, and in 1908, General Motors purchased the company. Of the more than 35 million Oldsmobile's built during the nameplate's existence, more than 14 million were built in Lansing. I focused mostly on the older cars, as I found them much more interesting.
