Did You Know
There Are so many kind of apples, that if you ate a new one everyday, it would take over 20 years to try them all. “There are more than 7,500 different kinds of apples in the world. Different kinds are called varieties. they come in different sizes, colors, and shapes. Some are round, and some look like hearts. Some apples are sweet, and some are tart. They taste different because they have different amounts of sugar. The flesh can be hard or soft, and the skin can be thick or thin. Thin-skinned apples are easier to eat. Some are better to eat for a snack, and some are better for making pies and apple sauce.”

The advantages of waking up with an apple far surpass any benefit from coffee. Fructose, a natural sugar found in apples will supply an energy boost. An apple contains roughly 20 carbohydrates, which are applied to fuel the body.

About 80 million tons of apples were grown worldwide in 2013, and China produced almost half of this total. The United States is the second-leading producer, with more than 6% of the worlds production. Turkey is third, followed by Italy, India and Poland.
Apples were introduced in the United States by the pilgrims in the year 1620.

A Redhead Girl With 1 Eye
A man was dining alone in a fancy restaurant and there was a Gorgeous redhead sitting at the next table..He had been checking her out since he sat down, but lacked the nerve to talk with her.

Suddenly she sneezed, and her glass eye came flying out of its socket towards the man. He reflexively reached out, grabbed it out of the air, and handed it back to her.

'Oh my, I am so sorry,' the woman said, as she popped her eye back in place. 'Let me buy your dinner to make it up to you.'

They enjoyed a wonderful dinner together, and afterwards they went to the theater followed by drinks... They talked, they laughed, she shared her deepest dreams and he shared his. She listened to him with interest.

After paying for everything, she asked him if he would like to come to her place for a nightcap and stay for breakfast. They had a wonderful, wonderful time.

The next morning, she cooked a gourmet meal with all the trimmings. The guy was amazed. Everything had been so incredible!

'You know,' he said, 'you are the perfect woman.. Are you this nice to every guy you meet?'

'No,' she replies. ... .....

She said .... ........:

'You just happened to catch my eye.'

1833 - Chicago is founded.
Picture

182 Years Ago  On Aug 12, 1833
The city of Chicago was founded. Its recorded history began with traders, missionaries, and explorers, and it was the original home of the Potawatomi Indians. Chicago was taken over as a U.S. territory in the 18th century. The name “Chicago” comes from a French rendering of the Native American word shikaakwa , roughly meaning "wild onion" or "garlic," which was populous in the area. After being founded Chicago quickly grew as a transportation hub, as it was able to control access to the Great Lakes into the Mississippi River basin. Today, Chicago is home to roughly 2.7 million inhabitants and is the third most populous city in the United States. It is the most populous city in the Midwest and its metropolitan area extends into Indiana and Wisconsin.

Isaac Singer patents the sewing machine
Isaac Merritt Singer was no introverted back-room inventor, but one of the most forceful, flamboyant and unscrupulous tycoons in American business history. Though he did not invent the sewing machine, he designed the first practical and efficient one, used mass-production techniques to manufacture it and pioneered the hire-purchase system of buying on credit in easy installments, which revolutionized consumer behavior.

Thomas Edison invents Edison-phone
Edison's experiments with the telephone and the telegraph led to his invention of the phonograph in 1877. It occurred to him that sound could be recorded as indentations on a rapidly-moving piece of paper. He eventually formulated a machine with a tinfoil-coated cylinder and a diaphragm and needle. When Edison spoke the words "Mary had a little lamb" into the mouthpiece, to his amazement the machine played the phrase back to him. The Edison Speaking Phonograph Company was established early in 1878 to market the machine, but the initial novelty value of the phonograph wore off, and Edison turned his attention elsewhere.   Edison once said “Genius is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration”

Edison felt that in some ways too much education corrupted people by prompting them to make so many assumptions that they were unable to see many of nature’s great possibilities.

Henry Ford's company builds
the first Model T car
The Model T, also known as the “Tin Lizzie,” changed the way Americans live, work and travel. Henry Ford’s revolutionary advancements in assembly-line automobile manufacturing made the Model T the first car to be affordable for a majority of Americans. For the first time car ownership became a reality for average American workers, not just the wealthy. More than 15 million Model Ts were built in Detroit and Highland Park, Michigan

Babe Ruth's final game at Fenway Park,
41,766 turn out to Fenway Park to see what will probably be Babe Ruth's last game in Boston. In game one of the doubleheader, Ruth goes 2 for 5 with a double, but misplays a Billy Werber line drive into a triple. Ruth is 0 for 1 with two walks in the second game, leaving in the 6th inning.

Weekly Horoscope: For 08/09/15  by Georgia Nicols
This is for the week of 08/09/15 thru 08/15/15
All Signs:

Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system. It is so big you could fit all the other planets inside it, plus three sesame seeds and the heart of a Hollywood producer. In astrology, because it represents good fortune, expansion, and an increase in wealth, it is often referred to as the Great Benefit. It will bring increase in your life, even weight gain. (Horrors!) It is associated with joy, wisdom and social interaction. Depending on where it is moving through your chart, it will give it a nice "boost." This week, Jupiter moves into Virgo. The last time it was in Virgo was in 2003. The next time it will be in Virgo will be 2027, and again in 2039. It will stay in Virgo until September 2016. This means good news for all of us but in different ways. It will certainly increase stability in the lives of many of us; and hey -- stability is a good thing, don't knock it. Where there's a will - I want to be in it.
