Place arrow over photo to see price, these were last
weeks price, as you know the price can change overnight. A truck load of the mini watermelons came in last week, and they were sold out the next day. They are hoping to get another load this week. As you can see they aren't much larger than a grapefruit.

Worlds Heaviest Carrot ?
Now that's what you call a colossal carrot! Peter Glazebrook of Newark is seen posing with a record breaking 20lb carrot that won him first place in the giant veg section of the Harrogate Autumn Flower Show. The show, which has run since 1911, has over 1,000 exhibitors and is expected to attract some 100,000 visitors over the three days.
The wild ancestors of the carrot are likely to have come from Persia (regions of which are now Iran and Afghanistan), which remain the center of diversity of the wild carrot. A naturally occurring subspecies of the wild carrot, has been selectively bred over the centuries to reduce bitterness, increase sweetness and minimize the woody core. This has produced what we know as the familiar garden vegetable. CLICK ON PHOTOS TO ENLARGE
The carrot is usually orange in color although purple, red, white, and yellow varieties also exist. Cultivated carrots are usually made up of about 88% water, 7% sugar, 1% protein, 1% fiber, 1% ash, and 0.2% fat. Carrots are cooked and eaten in various different ways. The vegetable is often pulped, mashed, boiled, pureed, grated, fried, steamed, stewed, baked, juiced or eaten raw. Carrots are typically used in stir-fries and salads but also in soups and added to baby foods or pet foods. They can be dehydrated or deep-fried to make chips, flakes, and powder.

1st Cow To Fly & Be Milked On An Airplane Elm Farm Ollie--known locally as "Nellie Jay" by those who had the privilege of milking her at Bismarck's Sunnymede Farms--has become a bona fide bovine folk hero. Quite simply, she is the first cow to fly in an airplane. It is not known, however, whether she flew first class or coach. She may not have even had a ticket. Unlike other, perhaps more common, cows, Ollie's cause celeb centers around the airplane flight she took in February, 1930 to the International Aircraft Exposition at St. Louis. Because she was such an unusually productive dairy cow--and required three daily milkings--she was put to work in-flight. As the story goes, she ate her usual feed and produced 24 quarts of milk. In what may very well be the first, if not only, case of fresh air delivery, these quarts were carefully bottled, sealed and dropped from the airplane as it flew over St. Louis. Small parachutes were attached to keep her skymilk from spilling. Celebrated as a pasteurized legend of the pasture, Ollie has for 80 years remained the star attraction at the Feb. 18 dairy festival held each year at Mount Horeb, Wisc. In addition to having her praises sung in such works as "The Bovine Cantata in B-Flat Major" (from Madame Butterfat) and the stirring "Owed to Ollie," she has been the subject of stories, cartoons and poems. <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <>

Weekly Horoscope: For Feb. 15, 2015 by Georgia Nicols
This is for the week of Feb. 15th thru Feb. 21th All Signs This week the Sun moves into Pisces and both Venus and Mars into Aries. Three changes in one week is a shift we will all feel! Read your sign (and Rising Sign if you know it) to see how these changes will affect you. Change is inevitable but we can always guide it. Woodrow Wilson said, "If you think about what you want to do for other people, your character will take care of itself." This is an example of how motivation governs change. Ah yes, there's big change, small change, but the best is loose change behind the sofa cushions. Carrot Fact (TRUE)
It is true that eating massive amounts of carrots can sometimes cause a person's skin to turn yellowish orange. This is most noticeable on the palms or soles of feet and is called carotenemia. But don't worry it requires a high amount of carrot consumption and is completely fixable just by reducing carrot intake.
