Some Produce Prices From Last Week
Honeydew Melons $14. a box Strawberries $12 to $14. a flat Tomatoes $10. to $12. for 25 lb. box
The price of produce on this page does not necessarily mean that is the going price on the entire market. We stop randomly at different vendors and ask the price at that given time. The price in the early hours could be higher, and in the evening hours when they are leaving it could be lower. The prices shown here should however give you an idea of what you could expect to pay. The price you will pay for produce at the Plant City Farm & Flea Mkt. will almost always be lower than the price that is posted at any major produces exchange terminal.

Meet Dan Weaver one of our regular vendors, & maybe your neighbor, Dan is supplementing his retirement income through the sale of fishing tackle, video equipment, movies and more.
Dan Weaver is an interesting fellow. His career path has been diverse, everything from working in kidney plant research and cross country trucking driving to tending bar, and serving as a dispatcher.
“Yes, lots of different things that kept work interesting, but I never stayed long enough in one position to qualify for a pension,” said Weaver. As a consequence, it was neither practical nor realistic for him to rely solely on Social Security in retirement.
I started out going to yard sales, buying and selling items and that led to flea markets and I now focus on selling fishing and video equipment, movies and some other items at the Plant City Market,” where he has been a regular for four years. Beyond supplementing his income, his time at the market is shared with his brother Steve and their friend Bob, both of whom sell various items, mostly tools, across the lane from Dan. “In addition to being related and friends, the three of us are also ushers at Fellowship Baptist Church. “It’s nice that I can supplement my income and at the same time be with Steve and Bob.”
