39 Years Ago On February 15, 1978 Escaped mass murderer Ted Bundy was recaptured in Pensacola, Fla. 1978, shortly after 1 a.m., Pensacola Police Officer David Lee apprehended serial killer Ted Bundy after seeing his orange Volkswagen bug emerging from the alleyway behind the Hot Cake King Restaurant. 19 Years Ago On Feb 15th 1998 The 40th Daytona 500: was won by Dale Earnhardt (172.712 MPH) Dale Earnhardt was 47 years old in 1998 when he won the Daytona 500 and that was the only race he would win in 1998. He did have 5 top fives and 13 top tens. In 1987 Dale won 11 NASCAR races, in 1990 he won 9 NASCAR races. Since 1980 Dale Earnhardt never missed a race. Victor Lucas and his five brothers, ranging in age from 21-37, grew up in the family business, JVL Produce and that business has been a mainstay at the Plant City Flea and Farmers Market for more than 21 years. JVL Produce markets Florida fruits and vegetables, as well as items from outside of Florida. Depending upon the season, large and small volume customers can select from mangoes, papaya, watermelon, cucumbers, avocados and other items while shopping at the market any day of the week between the hours of 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. While the family hails from Lakeland, their market customers come from the Tampa Bay area, across Florida and out of state as far as South Carolina. “We sell anywhere from 6,000 to 1,000 boxes of produce each week,” said Victor. “Most of our customers are high volume retailers. Many are supermarkets in the local area, as well as Jacksonville, Gainesville and other cities in the Southeast.“The market has been good for our business and we plan to be here for a long time.” If you stop at JVL Produce, it’s pretty safe to say you will meet a member of the Lucas family, after all they all grew up in the family business.
