Fire At The Farmers Market
I was called out of bed Friday at 12:37 AM and was told about the fire at the Farm / Flea Market. Arrived at 12:52 and saw flames coming out of the front of the Cafe & Grocery Store. I thought that they would have in out in less than 1 hour, WRONG. It was almost 5 hours before they had it under control and 13 hours later they were still pouring water on the building. The Cafe was complete destroyed, the Grocery Store complete destroyed, Two (2) 60 ft. walk-in coolers complete destroyed. 1/3 of the 500 Row shed was damaged. Some of the vendors lost more that $100,000.00 worth of fruit & vegetables. I would estimate the loss of the cafe /equipment and grocery store inventory would exceed $250,000.00 and cost to replace the buildings between $400,000.00 & $500,000.00 I'm not sure what we are all going to do, this will be very hard to overcome. None of us had any insurance. I counted 12 Fire trucks & more that 20 other support vehicles that were on scene. A big Thank You to the Hillsborough County fire fighters that helped save the other buildings.
